Sunrise Waldorf School invites applications for a Class One Teacher position beginning in the 2025–2026 school year. Waldorf teachers traditionally stay with their class for several years, fostering deep connections and continuity in learning. 

 

Founded in 1980, Sunrise Waldorf School is situated on a stunning seven-acre campus in the Cowichan Valley, near Duncan, BC. As a full AWSNA member school and a Group One independent school under the BC Ministry of Education, Sunrise is dedicated to educating and inspiring students to reach their full potential through a rich, artistic Waldorf curriculum. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Education, a B.C. Teaching Certificate, Waldorf teacher training, and teaching experience in a Waldorf school. Sunrise is seeking a caring and dynamic educator with positive classroom and behavior management practices, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to support students with a wide range of abilities and foster an inclusive environment where all students feel safe and welcome. In addition to teaching both the BC Ministry of Education and Waldorf curricula, responsibilities include:

• Lesson planning and classroom preparation

• Participating in staff meetings and committee work

• Engaging with parents through meetings and regular communication

• Assessing student progress and preparing both oral and written reports

• Supervising lunch and recess periods

• Pursuing ongoing professional development

• Participating in festivals, recitals, and field trips
